Three Mentalities
Aṅguttara Nikāya 22 (III, 25)
There are three mentalities, where the mind is like:

an open sore - irascible, irritable, displays anger and becomes upset, losing one’s temper easily

lightening - someone who understands the four noble truths but has not yet become fully enlightened. Like someone who sees objects in the darkness during a flash of lightening
-
a diamond - the enlightened mind. Like a diamond that can cut through anything
